Brutalism

Having grown up in Birmingham, a city they used to call the "Concrete Jungle", I was always going to have a love for Brutalist architecture. A genre particularly suited to Photography with all its bold lines, patterns, textures and minimalist design.
Living in Charles Barry Crescent, one of the four huge Brutalist built Hulme housing blocks in Manchester only increased my interest. My flat in Hulme was where I had my darkroom and studio for a few years in the late 80's/early 90's and that monochrome environment certainly provided me with a lot of energy, inspiration & most important of all the room to do my own thing at my own pace.
