The Beautiful Game

In 1991 I met Dr Steve Redhead, who at the time, was head of the Unit for Law and Popular Culture at Manchester Polytechnic. Steve was also a prolific writer and author. He was starting a new book titled "Football With Attitude" which looked at the new emergence of football fandom after the dark days of the 1980's.

Steve knew about my Photography and asked if I wanted to get involved with the project. The idea was to look at the links between football, music and popular culture and if indeed there was a more positive environment around going to the match in the early 1990's.
